2023 Million Dollar Bike Ride Success! Thanks to YOU!
A total of $161,620 for fibrous Dysplasia/McCune-Albright syndrome (FD/MAS) research was raised and will fund up to 4 grants. TEAM FD/MAS was also the #1 fundraising team at the MDBR event sponsored by UPenn Orphan Disease Center.
This achievement would not have been possible without you and the incredible support of the FD/MAS community. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and commitment to finding a cure.
Thanks to YOU, FD/MAS Alliance has played a critical role in facilitating over $6.5 million in federal research funding for FD/MAS.
We are also excited to share that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recently funded an R01 Grant entitled “Novel Strategies for Understanding and Treating Fibrous Dysplasia” with a grant award of $3.36M over five years.
Three co-investigators on this grant, Drs. Edward Hsiao, Fernando Fierro, and Kelly Wentworth received Team FD/MAS MDBR grants in the past, and the 4th co-investigator Dr. Robert Nissenson is a recognized leader in the G-protein coupled receptor field.
Drs. Wentworth, Hsiao, and Fierro express their gratitude, stating that the preliminary data provided by the MDBR grants were critical in securing NIH funding.
This collaboration between UCSF, UC Davis, and the San Francisco VA Medical Center/Northern California Institute for Research and Education was made possible with the Team FD/MAS awards.
This NIH award is in addition to the $3,346,788 PRMRP funds awarded to Dr. Yingzhi Yang, an MDBR awardee, and Dr. Mark Wein earlier this year.
We are proud to be part of a community making such a significant impact. Special thanks to our partner, Association MASFD, and everyone who made this achievement possible. Thank you again for your continued support and dedication to finding a cure.
